I don't feel safe at home

You are not the only one.

This is what we usually ask children and teens when they don't feel safe at home

  • Is someone physically or sexually abusing you or one of your brothers / sisters?
  • Is your mom being hit, yelled at, choked, or threatened by someone in your house?
  • Does someone in your house get scary when they drink or get high?
  • Is someone making you feel unsafe and you can't tell your parents?

Then we figure out a plan to get them out of the violence, abuse, or other situation

Is this similar to what you are going through?
We can help.

It might involve calling the Ministry for Children and Family Development. We can help you make the call or we can call them for you.

It might get worse before it gets better. We know this is a big thing to do.

You might have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms that include....

Anxiety, depression, trouble sleeping, nightmares, difficulty concentrating....

You might avoid a lot of things, you might drink too much, you might be really angry...

This is not your fault.

We talk to lots of teens who feel the same way you do. We know things can get better, and we can help you figure things out.

If you're ready to talk, we're here to listen.
